About the Competition:
The Open Innovation Hackathon is a 24-hour offline innovation challenge organized as part of HakITxMRDU'26, the Annual Inter-College Technical Festival of Malla Reddy (MR) Deemed to be University.
Participants are invited to identify real-world problems and develop innovative software, hardware, or hybrid solutions. There are no predefined problem statements or themes, giving teams complete freedom to build impactful projects in any domain.
Eligibility:
- Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from any recognized college or university.
- Students from all branches and disciplines are eligible to participate.
- Participants must carry a valid college ID during the event.
Team Size:
- Minimum: 2 members
- Maximum: 4 members
Team Formation:
- Inter-college teams: Allowed
- Inter-specialization/Inter-department teams: Allowed
Hackathon:
- Dates: 22–23 August 2026
- Duration: 24 Hours (Offline)
- Teams will ideate, design, develop, and present a working prototype or proof of concept within the given time.
Rules:
- Teams must consist of 2 to 4 members.
- Each participant can register in only one team.
- Team composition cannot be changed after the registration deadline unless approved by the organizers.
- Participants must develop their project during the hackathon duration. Pre-existing ideas are allowed, but the implementation and development should primarily take place during the event.
- Teams are expected to bring their own laptops and necessary development equipment. Hardware components required for hardware-based projects should also be arranged by the participants unless specified otherwise.
- Internet access will be provided for research and development purposes.
- Any form of plagiarism, cheating, or copying another team's work will result in immediate disqualification.
- Teams must maintain professional and ethical conduct throughout the event.
- The judges' decision will be final and binding.
- Organizers reserve the right to modify the schedule or rules if required due to unforeseen circumstances.
