- Get ready to put your strategy, calculation and decision-making skills to the test at the IEEE DAY'26 Rapid Chess Tournament, organized by IEEE MAIT Student Branch.
- The competition will bring together college students for an intense on-campus chess showdown featuring a 10+2 Rapid time control and a single-elimination knockout format.
- Registrations are limited to 100 participants, with 64 players advancing to the main knockout tournament.

Tournament Format:
The main tournament will consist of 64 participants competing in a single-elimination knockout format.
The progression will be:
Round of 64 → Round of 32 → Round of 16 → Quarterfinals → Semifinals → Final
The winner of each match advances to the next round, while the losing player is eliminated from the tournament.
Selection for Main Tournament:
- A maximum of 100 participants may register for the competition.
- From the registered participants, the Top 64 players will be selected based on their chess rating and will advance to the main knockout tournament.
- Participants are therefore required to provide their FIDE rating and/or Chess.com/Lichess rating, wherever applicable, during registration.
- In case a participant does not have an official FIDE rating, the organizing team may consider the submitted online chess rating or other available rating information for shortlisting.
Rules & Gameplay:
- The tournament will follow a Rapid Chess format.
- Each player will receive 10 minutes of base time with a 2-second increment after every move (10+2).
- The tournament will follow a single-elimination knockout format.
- Players must report at the venue within the communicated reporting time.
- The touch-move rule will be applicable during matches.
- Players must operate their chess clock correctly after every move.
- Mobile phones, chess engines, external assistance or any other unfair means during a match are strictly prohibited.
- Participants are expected to maintain fair play and proper conduct throughout the tournament.
- Draw claims such as repetition, stalemate and other applicable chess rules will be handled according to the tournament rules and the decision of the tournament officials.
- Participants arriving after the permitted reporting/match time may be subject to forfeiture.
- Any dispute arising during a match must immediately be brought to the attention of the tournament officials.
- The decision of the Chief Arbiter / Tournament Officials regarding match-related disputes will be final.
- Participants must carry a valid college ID card.
Eligibility:
- Open to college students.
- Participation is individual.
- Participants from different colleges are welcome to register.
- A valid college ID may be required for verification at the venue.
- Registration must be completed within the specified registration window.

Important Participant Guidelines
- Participants must complete their registration through Unstop.
- Participants must join the official WhatsApp group after registering.
- Players should report according to the schedule communicated by the organizers.
- Participants are responsible for checking official updates before the tournament.
- Failure to report on time may result in forfeiture of the participant's slot.
- Participants must follow the instructions of the organizing team and tournament officials throughout the event.
Important Note: Accommodation will not be provided by the organizers. Participants are required to make their own stay arrangements, if needed.
