Robo War (AI Arena) – IDEAS 4.0: The Innovation Carnival 2026
Mandatory Registration – Important
All participants must register individually on the official IDEAS 4.0 event portal in addition to registering on Unstop.
Please note:
- Registration is per person, not per team.
- Every participant, including each member of a team, must complete their own registration through the IDEAS 4.0 portal.
- Registration on Unstop alone will not be considered valid.
- Participation will be considered valid only after completing registration on both Unstop and the official IDEAS 4.0 portal.
About the Event:
Robo War (AI Arena) is a high-energy robotics competition where student-built robots compete head-to-head in a battle of strength, strategy, mobility, and engineering innovation. Participants will design, build, program, and control their robots to outmanoeuvre opponents in a competitive arena, showcasing their technical skills, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
The competition is organised by the School of Engineering & Technology (SOET), K.R. Mangalam University, as part of IDEAS 4.0 – The Innovation Carnival 2026.

About the Competition:
Robo War is a competitive robotics arena designed to test participants' engineering knowledge, robot design, mobility, control systems, durability, and match strategy. Participants will compete using their robots in challenging arena-based encounters that reward innovation, precision, and effective control.
The event may include Sumo Battle, Robo Soccer, and Task Arena challenges, depending on the applicable competition category and rules.
Rules & Regulations:
Safety and Technical Inspection:
- Every robot must have an easily accessible and clearly identifiable kill switch or main power switch that safely disconnects electrical power. A battery connector alone is not a substitute.
- A functional radio failsafe is mandatory. If the control link is lost, the drive and weapon systems must stop or enter a neutral safe state.
- All robots must pass technical inspection and official weigh-in.
- Officials may inspect robot weight, dimensions, kill-switch operation, and failsafe functionality.
- Unsafe or non-compliant robots may be barred from competing until approved by the officials.
Weight, Dimensions and Configuration:
- The maximum robot weight for the University Students category is 15 kg, including all robot components.
- For multibot entries, the combined weight of all robots must remain within the applicable category's maximum weight limit.
- A maximum of two robots (1+1 configuration) is allowed in a multibot entry. Both robots must be inspected.
- Combined dimensions in the clustered configuration must not exceed 1000 × 1000 mm.
- Only one wedge robot is permitted per team in the 15 kg University Students category.
- Active-weapon requirements depend on the applicable category rules; passive designs are permitted where specified.
Mobility and Match Conduct:
- Robots must demonstrate controlled translational movement. Uncontrolled twitching, spinning in place, or random movement alone does not qualify as mobility.
- A robot must not pin, hold, trap, or immobilise an opponent for more than 10 seconds. Judges may instruct teams to release the opponent.
- Teams must not manually touch or recover a robot inside the arena unless specifically instructed by officials.
- Assistance for a stuck robot inside the arena is controlled by event officials.
Knockout and Category Participation:
- For a multibot, a knockout occurs only when more than 50% of its total declared weight cannot demonstrate controlled translational movement. Judges make the final determination.
- Each robot must be registered in one specific weight category and may compete only in that category.
- The same robot cannot participate in multiple weight categories.
Judges' Authority:
- Judges and authorised technical officials have final authority over safety, technical interpretation, mobility, knockout status, and match decisions.
- Teams should raise rules-related or technical concerns with the organising or technical team before the competition begins.
- All participants must follow the instructions of the judges and event organisers.
Prize Structure:
The total prize pool for Robo War is ₹80,000.
- 1st Prize: ₹50,000
- 2nd Prize: ₹30,000
University student participants receive no prize on Day 1. On Day 2, the finalists compete for the first and second prizes.
Important Information:
- All participants must complete individual registration on both Unstop and the official IDEAS 4.0 event portal.
- Teams must ensure that all members have individually registered through the official portal.
- All robots must comply with the applicable safety and technical requirements.
- Participants are responsible for ensuring their robots are functional and ready for inspection.
- Participants must arrive at the venue on time and follow the schedule communicated by the organisers.
- Any violation of competition rules or instructions from officials may result in disqualification.
