Opportunity brief

Be a Co-Founder: Build India's Next Healthy Food Brand

The Opportunity

We have McDonald's for burgers. Domino's for pizza. Starbucks for coffee. But when someone asks, "Where do I go for  tasty, affordable and genuinely healthy food?", there is no single brand that immediately dominates the conversation.

That gap represents an opportunity.

InteractUp, under its startup and entrepreneurship initiative Blueprint Syndicate, is launching an experiential startup for a healthy, scalable food business for India.

But this is not a business-plan competition.

You will not simply prepare a PPT, pitch an imaginary startup and walk away.

You will be challenged to think like an actual founding team - identifying the opportunity, testing assumptions, solving operational problems, thinking about customers, finding ways to launch lean and figuring out what it would take to take the concept from an idea to the real world.

And if you prove that you have what it takes, you could join the founding team as a Co-Founder or take up another leadership role within the venture on profit sharing basis or agreed terms.

The Challenge

Founding team has decided to test a healthy food concept in Gurgaon. You can pick any other location too if you have space to cook or execute plan.

The objective is simple:

Can we build, test and validate a healthy food business with minimal initial capital before committing to a full-scale launch? Your team will have to solve the problems a real startup founder would face, only realistic plan will be

You May Need To Figure Out

  • Who exactly is the first customer?
  • What healthy food problem are we actually solving?
  • What should the initial product offering look like?
  • Where can the concept be tested?
  • Can we find a location or partnership arrangement that minimises upfront fixed costs?
  • How can we test demand before investing heavily?
  • How would the first 100 customers be acquired?
  • What partnerships could help us launch?
  • Who are the suppliers, vendors and operational partners we would need?
  • How should the business operate on the ground?
  • What should the initial pricing and unit economics look like?
  • What could go wrong during the pilot?
  • How would you know whether the business is worth scaling?

You don't need to have all the answers.

The competition is designed to test whether you can find the answers.

Competition Format

The competition will consist of multiple rounds designed to evaluate different founder-level capabilities.

Could You Use:

  • Existing commercial spaces?
  • Corporate cafeterias?
  • Cloud kitchens?
  • Gyms or fitness centres?
  • Cafés during unused hours?
  • Corporate partnerships?
  • Shared kitchens?
  • Pop-ups?
  • Events?
  • Subscription models?

The objective is not to produce the longest list.

The objective is to find the most practical way to test the concept.

You have the product. Now get people to buy it.

You will need to think beyond: "Let's run Instagram ads."

Consider

  • Corporate tie-ups
  • Gyms and fitness communities
  • Colleges
  • Housing societies
  • Influencer partnerships
  • Referral programmes
  • Sampling
  • Community-led growth
  • Subscription models
  • Strategic partnerships
  • Offline activation

The winning approach will be the one that demonstrates creativity + practicality + economics.

  • Customer understanding
  • Creativity
  • Problem-solving
  • Commercial thinking
  • Operational feasibility
  • Go-to-market strategy
