Opportunity brief
hax.baby presents: Baby's First Website — a 48-hour hackathon where you build something real, but it has to look like a baby made it. Bright colors, oversized buttons, retro-internet chaos on the outside — solid, working code underneath. This is our first-ever event, and we're kicking things off exactly the way we mean to continue: playful, community-driven, and open to everyone.

Eligibility
- Open to all students, self-taught developers, and working professionals — no restriction on year, degree, or institution.
- Inter-college teams are allowed. Your team doesn't need to be from the same college or university.
- Inter-specialization teams are allowed. Designers, developers, and non-CS backgrounds are all welcome on the same team — this event rewards creativity as much as code.
- Team size: 1–3 members. Solo participation is welcome.
Format
- Single round, single problem statement, released at kickoff.
- Duration: 48 hours, non-stop, from problem statement release to submission deadline.
- Fully online — build and submit from anywhere.
- Teams may use any tech stack, framework, or AI coding assistant of their choice.
Process:
- Registration — Sign up before the deadline. Team formation can happen before or during this window.
- Kickoff — Problem statement drops at the scheduled time. The 48-hour clock starts immediately.
- Build — Work on your project for the full 48 hours. No project code allowed before kickoff — planning, sketching, and tech-stack decisions are fine.
- Submission — Submit your project (repo link + live/deployed link + short write-up) before the deadline. Late submissions are not accepted.
- Judging — All valid submissions are reviewed independently by our judging panel against the published scoring criteria.
- Results — Winners announced, prizes distributed.
Rules:
- All project code must be written during the 48-hour hackathon window. Pre-existing projects will be disqualified.
- Frameworks, libraries, boilerplate, and AI coding tools are all allowed and encouraged.
- One problem statement, released once, at the start — no staged or partial releases.
- Team size is fixed at registration; no adding members mid-event.
- Submissions must be public/accessible for judges to review (public repo or accessible link).
- Plagiarized or reused (non-original) projects will be disqualified.
- Judges' decisions are final.
- Be respectful — harassment or abusive behavior toward other participants, judges, or organizers results in disqualification.
