Opportunity brief
Dohyo is a head-to-head robotic pushing competition that puts power, traction, control, and strategy to the test. Two remotely controlled robots face off in a circular arena, with the objective of pushing the opponent completely outside the boundary or immobilising it. With intense 2-minute matches and knockout rounds, every push, manoeuvre, and positioning decision can determine the winner.
"Push. Outsmart. Dominate."
Details:
- Category: Power
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Date: 17th October 2026
- Time: TBD
- Venue: Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology
- Mode: Offline
- Team Size: 3–5 participants
Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to all students.
- Inter-college participants allowed.
Pre-requisites:
Competition-ready wireless-controlled robot complying with the specifications below:
- Maximum weight: 8 kg
- Maximum dimensions: 30 × 40 × 30 cm
- Maximum voltage: 48V DC
- Control: Wireless only
- Operator: Single operator per match
- Wired control: Not permitted
- Emergency Stop/Kill Switch: Mandatory
Event Flow:
- Each match will have a maximum duration of 2 minutes.
- A match ends immediately if a robot is completely pushed outside the arena.
- A robot may also win if the opponent becomes immobilised, defined as no wheel rotation for approximately 10 seconds.
- If neither robot wins within the time limit, the judges will determine the result based on the applicable tie-break criteria.
- For fewer than 7 teams, a Round Robin stage will be conducted, followed by the top 4 teams qualifying for the knockout stage.
- For 7–10 teams, teams will be divided into 2 groups, with the top 2 teams from each group qualifying for the knockout stage.
- In the knockout stage:
- Semifinal 1: Rank 1 vs Rank 4
- Semifinal 2: Rank 2 vs Rank 3
- Final: Winners of the semifinals
- In the group stage, points will be awarded as:
- Win: 3 points
- Draw: 1 point each
- Loss: 0 points
- Teams will be given 2 minutes of pit/repair time between rounds.
- A tiebreaker match will be conducted if required to determine qualification or final standings.
Rules & Regulations:
- The robot must comply with the specified 8 kg weight, 30 × 40 × 30 cm dimensions, and 48V DC maximum voltage limits.
- Only wireless control is permitted. Wired control of the robot is strictly prohibited.
- Only one operator is permitted to control the robot during a match.
- Weapons, projectiles, explosives, pyrotechnics, flammable substances, high-pressure systems, or any mechanism designed to damage another robot or person are strictly prohibited.
- The arena will be a circular platform with a diameter of 160 cm, featuring a clearly visible boundary and a flat, stable surface.
- Robots must begin from their designated starting positions, approximately 20–30 cm apart, and must remain stationary until the official start signal.
- Both robots must be fully inside the arena before the match begins.
- Each robot must be equipped with a functional Emergency Stop/Kill Switch.
- Any intentional interference with another team's wireless control system is strictly prohibited.
- Robots will undergo weigh-in and verification before competition. Re-verification may be required after any in-competition repair or modification.
- A robot pushed completely outside the arena boundary will be declared defeated.
- A robot showing no wheel rotation for approximately 10 seconds may be declared immobilised and defeated.
- Any unsafe operation or violation of the rules may result in a warning, penalty, or disqualification at the discretion of the event officials.
- The decision of the event judges and marshals regarding match results, penalties, and disqualifications will be considered final.
