Code Quest 2026 — Ready. Set. Code.

Code Quest 2026 is a competitive programming event designed to test participants' programming fundamentals, problem-solving abilities, logical reasoning, and Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) skills.

The competition consists of two rounds, progressing from a fast-paced multiple-choice quiz to a hands-on coding challenge. Participants will compete individually, solve problems under time constraints, and demonstrate their ability to think logically and write efficient solutions.

Whether you're confident in programming fundamentals or ready to challenge yourself with DSA, Code Quest is an opportunity to put your skills to the test.

Competition Format

Round 1: MCQ Sprint

  • Mode: Online quiz using Google Forms
  • Duration: 15 minutes
  • Total questions: 15 multiple-choice questions
  • Marks per question: 10 points
  • Maximum score: 150 points

Topics covered:

  • Data Structures and Algorithms fundamentals
  • Python programming
  • Programming fundamentals
  • Logical reasoning related to programming

Participants must answer the questions within the allotted time. This round tests conceptual understanding, accuracy, and speed.

Round 2: DSA Challenge

  • Mode: Online coding contest on Hackerrank
  • Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes
  • Total problems: 4
  • Maximum score: 1,050 points

Participants will solve four coding problems of increasing difficulty.

This round evaluates coding ability, algorithmic thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to develop solutions that satisfy the given test cases.

Eligibility

  • The competition is open to students interested in programming, Python, and problem-solving.
  • Participants should have a basic understanding of programming fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with Data Structures and Algorithms is recommended for Round 2.
  • Participants must have access to a stable internet connection and a device capable of running a modern web browser.
  • Participants must have a HackerRank account.

Participation Format

  • The competition is conducted on an individual basis.
  • Each participant must register using their own details.
  • Participants must use their own registered account or identity when attempting the competition.
  • Team participation is not applicable.

Competition Rules

  • Independent solving only: Participants must solve all questions independently.
  • No external assistance: The use of AI assistants, AI code generators, online solution repositories, external websites for solving questions, or communication with other participants for answers is prohibited during the contest.
  • No plagiarism: Copying or sharing solutions with other participants is not permitted.
  • Fair play: Participants must not exploit platform vulnerabilities, manipulate submissions, or use unauthorized methods to gain an unfair advantage.
  • Time limits: Participants must complete each round within its allotted duration.
  • Authentic participation: Participants must not impersonate another person or participate using multiple identities to gain an unfair advantage.
  • Platform compliance: Participants must follow the applicable rules and terms of HackerRank.
  • Disqualification: Organizers reserve the right to disqualify participants found violating the competition rules, subject to review of the available evidence.

Scoring and Results

  • Round 1 carries a maximum of 150 points.
  • Round 2 carries a maximum of 1,050 points.
  • The maximum combined score is 1,200 points.
  • Final rankings will be determined using the combined scores from both rounds, provided both rounds are completed as part of the official competition format.
  • In case of a tie, the organizers may use Round 2 score and then the time taken or submission performance in the coding round as tie-breakers, where reliable platform data is available.

Important Instructions

  • Participants should carefully read all instructions before starting each round.
  • Ensure a stable internet connection and log in to the required platforms in advance.
  • Submit responses and coding solutions before the respective deadlines.
  • The organizers will communicate the official links and any additional instructions through the designated event channels.
