Opportunity brief

Capital Conclave is a two-round finance competition by Finception, the Finance Club of Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon, where numbers meet conviction and every investment decision comes with a price. Blending financial acumen with the mindset of a Private Equity investor, the event puts you in the seat of an investment analyst, challenging you to uncover value, build a compelling thesis, and decide whether a business is truly worth the bet. From a fast-paced finance qualifier testing your command of markets, accounting, corporate finance, and economics to an immersive Investment Committee challenge involving financial modelling, valuation, industry research, and risk assessment, participants will go head-to-head with the sharpest B-school minds to make the ultimate call: Invest or Walk Away?

Round 1: The Capital Quiz — Preliminary Round

Details:

  • This round will serve as the elimination stage of the competition.
  • The top 15 teams will qualify for the next round.
  • Teams will be ranked based on their accuracy and speed of response.

Round 2: Investment Committee Challenge

The real test begins here.

Step into the shoes of a Private Equity Investment Analyst and put your financial judgment to the test. With capital at stake, your team will be tasked with evaluating a publicly listed company and determining whether it deserves a place in the fund's portfolio.

Go beyond the numbers. Dive into the company's business, decode its financial performance, assess its industry and competitive landscape, uncover its growth potential, and determine what the business is truly worth. But valuation alone isn't enough — you will need to build a compelling investment thesis, identify the risks that could challenge your conviction, and ultimately make the call that matters.Invest or Walk Away?

There is no predetermined answer. Your assumptions, analytical approach, valuation, and interpretation of the business will shape your investment case. The final decision rests with the Investment Committee — and your job is to give them a reason to back yours.

Research. Value. Convince. Invest.
