About the Competition

  • Get ready to test your cybersecurity skills in the Gopwnit CTF, an online Capture The Flag competition organized by Gopwnit on 10 October.
  • The competition is designed for anyone interested in cybersecurity and problem-solving — whether you are a student, cybersecurity enthusiast, beginner, professional, developer, ethical hacker, or experienced CTF player.
  • Participants will face a variety of cybersecurity challenges that require logical thinking, technical knowledge, investigation, and creativity. Find the hidden flags, solve the challenges, earn points, and compete on the leaderboard.
  • No team required. This is a completely solo competition.

Eligibility

  • The competition is open to everyone.
  • Students, working professionals, cybersecurity enthusiasts, developers, ethical hackers, researchers, and independent learners can participate.
  • There is no restriction on college, organization, specialization, branch, or professional background.
  • Participants can join from anywhere.
  • Prior CTF experience is not mandatory.
  • Participants may compete individually regardless of their experience level.

Participation Format

  • Solo participation only.
  • Teams are not allowed.
  • Each participant must register and compete using their own account.
  • Participants cannot collaborate with other participants during the competition.

Competition Format

The Gopwnit CTF will follow a Jeopardy-style Capture The Flag format.

Participants will be presented with cybersecurity challenges across different areas. Each challenge requires participants to investigate the problem, identify the intended vulnerability or solution, and submit the correct flag.

Challenges may cover areas such as:

  • Web Exploitation
  • Cryptography
  • Digital Forensics
  • OSINT
  • Reverse Engineering
  • Binary Exploitation
  • Steganography
  • Miscellaneous / General Cybersecurity

Participants can choose which challenges to attempt based on their skills and strategy.

How to Participate

  • Register for the competition through Unstop.
  • Access the CTF at Gopwnit.com using the instructions provided before the event.
  • Log in using your registered account.
  • Explore the available challenges.
  • Select a challenge and work towards discovering its hidden flag.
  • Submit the flag through the competition platform.
  • Earn points for every successfully solved challenge.
  • Monitor your position on the live leaderboard.
  • Continue solving challenges until the competition ends.
  • Final rankings will be determined based on the competition scoring system.

Scoring & Leaderboard

  • Participants earn points by successfully submitting flags.
  • Different challenges may carry different point values depending on their difficulty.
  • The leaderboard will track participants based on their scores.
  • Participants with higher scores will receive higher rankings.
  • In case of a tie, the submission/completion time may be considered as a tie-breaker.
  • The leaderboard will be finalized when the competition ends.

Rules & Regulations

  • This is a solo competition. Collaboration between participants is not permitted.
  • Each participant must use their own registered account.
  • Sharing flags, solutions, hints, or challenge-specific information with other participants during the competition is strictly prohibited.
  • Participants may use publicly available learning resources and documentation unless explicitly restricted for a particular challenge.
  • Participants must not attack, disrupt, overload, or damage the Gopwnit platform or its underlying infrastructure.
  • Participants must not attempt to gain unauthorized access to another participant's account or data.
  • Exploiting the competition infrastructure, scoring system, authentication system, or leaderboard instead of the intended challenge environment is strictly prohibited.
  • Automated tools, scripts, and security tools may be used for solving challenges, provided they do not negatively affect the competition infrastructure.
  • Participants must not interfere with challenges or services intended for other participants.
  • All challenges must be solved within the official 8-hour competition window.
  • Submissions made after the competition officially ends will not be considered.
  • Any form of impersonation, account sharing, or fraudulent participation is prohibited.
  • Participants found sharing solutions or collaborating with others may be disqualified.
  • Any attempt to manipulate scores, submissions, rankings, or the leaderboard will result in disqualification.
  • Gopwnit reserves the right to investigate suspicious activity during or after the competition.
  • Gopwnit reserves the right to disqualify participants who violate the competition rules.
  • The organizers' decision regarding rule violations, scoring disputes, and disqualification will be final.
