The Challenge: The AI Opportunity Thesis
As AI makes coding, analysis, and execution cheaper and faster, how can it expand opportunities for software engineers and MBA graduates? What must these professionals do to capture the upside and stay ahead of the curve?
Write an original essay, case analysis, or structured argument that makes an evidence-backed case for opportunity creation. Do not assume higher productivity automatically means more jobs: explain the mechanisms, acknowledge displacement risks, and distinguish job numbers from the value of work and the ability to create new products or businesses.
Thoughtful qualifications and counterarguments strengthen an entry; optimism alone does not.
Address These Five Questions:
1. Where Will New Opportunities Come From?
Explain at least two mechanisms through which AI could create new demand, products, markets, businesses, or roles. Show the causal chain rather than listing trends.
2. How Will Engineering and Business Roles Change?
Address both software engineers and MBA graduates. Identify tasks AI may automate, responsibilities people retain, and valuable combinations of technical, commercial, and interpersonal skills. You may explore one group in greater depth.
3. What Is the Strongest Objection?
Present a credible case that AI could reduce hiring or weaken entry-level career paths. Respond with evidence, state your assumptions, and identify what would make you revise your thesis.
4. What Does This Look Like in a Product?
Use Dart Browser or another AI-enabled product as a mini-case. Identify:
- A target user.
- A painful workflow.
- An AI-enabled improvement.
- The human judgment still required.
- A privacy or reliability tradeoff.
- A measurable success criterion.
Distinguish observed facts from proposals. Access to Dart's private beta is not required.
5. What Should a Student Do Next?
Propose a realistic 90-day plan with skills to learn, something to build or test, and measurable milestones. Include specific recommendations for engineers and MBA graduates.
Submission Guidelines:
- One PDF per participant: an essay, case analysis, or structured argument in English.
- Word Count: 1,200–1,600 words, excluding references and the AI-use disclosure.
- Include a title and a short executive summary within the word limit.
- Cite at least three credible sources, linking to primary research or data wherever possible. Distinguish facts from forecasts.
- Tables and diagrams are welcome. A slide deck or code submission is not required.
- No purchase, paid AI tool, or Dart Browser account is required.
- Submission Deadline: November 10, 2026, 11:59 PM IST.
- Register and submit on Unstop by the deadline.
- Upload your essay PDF in the dedicated Essay / Case Analysis Submission (PDF) field.
- Upload your current résumé separately in the CV/Resume field. Do not combine it with the essay PDF.
- The essay determines the competition ranking using the rubric below; the résumé provides background for the internship.
AI Use And Originality:
AI tools may assist with research, brainstorming, and editing. Include a brief disclosure naming the tools, what they helped with, and how you verified their output. If you did not use AI, say so.
You remain responsible for accuracy, sources, and reasoning. Plagiarism, fabricated citations, and misrepresented authorship are not acceptable.
Evaluation (100 Points):
- Reasoning and explanation of opportunity creation: 25 points.
- Evidence, counterarguments, and stated assumptions: 25 points.
- Originality and insight into engineering/business careers: 20 points.
- Product case and practical 90-day plan: 20 points.
- Clarity, structure, and source attribution: 10 points.
Ties are resolved first by reasoning score, then by evidence score. Constructively challenging assumptions is encouraged.
Selection And Award:
This is a single written-submission competition. The authors of the top 10 ranked eligible entries will each receive an offer for an unpaid winter internship as an AI Product Strategy & Research Intern at Dart Browser.
Finalists may be asked to clarify their submission or verify authorship. Internship dates will be agreed according to student availability within November 2026–February 2027.
