Opportunity brief
Eligibility & Team Formation
- The competition is open to college students.
- Each team must consist of 2 to 4 members.
- Inter-college teams are allowed.
- Inter-specialization/Inter-branch teams are allowed.
- Participants may form teams across different engineering specializations and institutions, subject to the organizing committee's guidelines.
- Each participant can be a member of only one team.
Competition Format
The competition consists of 2 rounds:
Round 1 - Online Ideation & Presentation
- Format: Online
- Problem statements will be officially released through the ISA-RAIT website.
- Teams must develop a solution concept for their selected problem statement.
- Teams must submit and present their solution using the official presentation template provided by the organizers.
- The presentation must cover the problem understanding, proposed solution, innovation, technical approach, implementation strategy, and expected practical impact.
- The presentation must adhere to the prescribed slide limit.
- The top 12 teams will be shortlisted for Round 2.
- Round 1 duration and submission deadlines will be communicated by the organizing committee.
Round 2 - 24-Hour Offline Hardware Hackathon
- Format: Offline
- Venue: Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology (RAIT)
- Duration: 24 hours
- Shortlisted teams must develop a functional hardware prototype based on their selected problem statement.
- Teams must submit their required list of sensors, electronic components, actuators, controllers, and other hardware within the specified deadline.
- The maximum approved hardware budget is 2,000 per team.
- Teams must work with the components approved and provided by the organizing committee.
- Unauthorized externally procured hardware cannot be used without prior approval.
- Permitted 3D printing facilities may be used for mechanical structures and prototype components, subject to organizer guidelines.
Problem Statements
- The hackathon will feature multiple hardware-oriented problem statements.
- Problem statements will be officially announced by the organizing committee.
- Each team will select a problem statement and develop its solution across the competition stages.
- Teams are expected to combine hardware, software, automation, mechanical design, and intelligent decision-making wherever applicable.
Evaluation Criteria
Final prototypes will be evaluated on:
- Innovation and novelty
- Functionality and working prototype
- Technical implementation
- Automation capability
- Practical relevance
- Cost efficiency
- Quality of presentation and demonstration
Rules
- All submitted ideas, presentations, designs, and prototypes must be the original work of the participating team.
- Plagiarism, copying, fabrication of results, or misrepresentation of another team's work is strictly prohibited.
- AI tools may be used as supporting tools; however, participants must understand and be able to explain and justify their proposed solution and technical decisions.
- Participants must follow all deadlines, templates, hardware restrictions, and instructions issued by the organizing committee.
- Unauthorized hardware or externally procured components must not be used during the final hackathon without prior approval.
- The total approved hardware requirement must remain within the 2,000 per-team limit.
- Participants must maintain discipline and professional conduct throughout the event.
- Deliberate interference with another team's work, damage to equipment, unfair practices, misconduct, or violation of event rules may result in penalties or disqualification.
- Teams are responsible for the safe and proper use of all equipment provided to them.
- The organizing committee reserves the right to take appropriate action in case of rule violations.
- The decision of the organizing committee and judging panel shall be final and binding.
- The organizers reserve the right to modify the schedule, guidelines, or operational procedures if required. Any such changes will be communicated to registered participants.
