Opportunity brief
Venue: CGC University, Mohali, Punjab
Dates: 22 and 23rd August, 2026.
Eligibility:
- The hackathon is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from any college or university.
- Participants from any specialization or academic background are allowed.
- Inter-college teams are allowed.
- Inter-specialization teams are allowed.
Team Size:
- Each team must consist of 2– 4 members.
- A participant can be part of only one team.
Hackathon Format:
CypherVerse follows a unique card-based challenge format instead of traditional hackathon themes.
Step 1 – Cypher Card Selection:
- At the start of the event, teams will choose one of four Cypher Cards.
- Each card contains a QR code that directs teams to the CypherVerse challenge platform.
Step 2 – Platform Access:
- Teams must scan the QR code and enter their Team Number on the platform.
Step 3 – Generator Selection:
- Teams must select a Generator that represents their innovation pathway.
Step 4 – Theme Selection:
- Teams must select a theme category from the dropdown menu available on the platform.
Step 5 – Add-On Challenge:
- After selecting the theme, a challenge card will appear containing an Add-On requirement related to that theme.
- The project must incorporate this Add-On feature or constraint.
Open Theme Option:
- One special Cypher Card unlocks the Open Theme, allowing teams to build any project idea without restrictions.
Project Submission:
Teams may be required to submit:
- Project description.
- Source code or GitHub repository.
- Prototype.
- Presentation or pitch deck.
Evaluation Criteria:
Projects will be evaluated based on:
- Innovation and creativity.
- Technical implementation.
- Relevance to the theme and Add-On challenge.
- Feasibility and real-world impact.
- Quality of presentation.
Rules:
- Teams must select only one Cypher Card at the beginning of the event.
- Once a card is selected, it cannot be changed.
- The project must follow the assigned theme and Add-On challenge.
- All projects must be original and developed during the hackathon.
- Use of open-source libraries and frameworks is allowed.
- Plagiarism or copying existing projects will lead to immediate disqualification.
- Each participant can be part of only one team.
- Teams must submit their projects before the final submission deadline.
- Any form of misconduct or unfair practice will result in disqualification.
- The decision of the judges and organizing team will be final.
